Capacity Available

Capacity available is the capacity of a system or resources to produce a quantity of output in a time period. It is affected by :

• Product specifications
  - When product specifications change, the work content will change thus affecting number of units that can be produced.
  
  
• Product mix- If mix of products being produced changes, the total work content for the mix will change.
  
  
• Plant and equipment
  - If the method is changed such as more machinery is added, the output and the capacity will change.
  
• Work effort
  - If the workforce changes pace, the capacity will be altered.
